• What would a nationwide NRC entail?

    Home Minister Amit Shah proposed the idea of creating a National Register of Citizens (NRC) for all states in India last month. The idea has been criticised as divisive. In this talk at the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Faizan Mustafa explains the legal, procedural, economic and practical issues a nation-wide NRC would entail. Citing facts from the case of NRC in Assam, he highlights the suffering the exercise may hold is store for people across India.
