On 30th October, the Centre for Human Rights Studies, Jindal Global Law School, organised a discussion on Anis Kidwai’s Dust of the Caravan, translated by Ayesha Kidwai and published by Zubaan Books.

The discussion featured Ayesha Kidwai — professor of linguistics at Jawaharlal Nehru University and Anis Kidwai’s granddaughter — in conversation with Ghazala Jamil, assistant professor at the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University; Nida Kirmani, associate professor of Sociology in the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Lahore University of Management Sciences; and historian and filmmaker, Uma Chakravarti.

Translated by Ayesha Kidwai, Dust of the Caravan is a selection of writings by Anis Kidwai sketching the personal and political journey of a Muslim woman through the first eight decades of the 20th century.
