Noted filmmaker, writer, commentator Saeed Mirza takes a personal and political journey with his latest book, “I Know the Psychology of Rats”, illustrated by Nachiket Patwardhan. Their intelligently imagined book revisits the FTII in the seventies, the anti-Sikh violence in 1984, the Babri masjid’s destruction, film censorship and much more, both remembered and forgotten. Patwardhan prepares a canvas for Mirza’s feelings about Kundan Shah as they illustrate the limits and possibilities of friendship and their growing unease with changing India. In this interview with NewsClick, Mirza discusses all these and more.
