The question of "what is an university?" becomes more relevant given that our society is under attack by the right-wing government at the centre. Professor Prabhat Patnaik passionately talked about the "The Idea of University" and what it stands for at the public meeting organised by the JNU Students' Union on 5 August 2017. He explains that rather than attributing the university to a specific norm of thought, the pursuit of truth is the job of universities.
