Not In My Name- Say No To Hatred

The silence has been broken. A protest initiated in June 2017 by the #NotInMyName campaign spread to 26 cities and towns across India. Thousands of Indians stood up to say NO to hatred and violence in the name of religion and caste. That was a moment of pause. Even the Prime Minister spoke up, briefly, but there has been no discernible follow up action. The lynchings and assaults on Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis and other minorities have not stopped.

We now propose to observe 27 August 2017 as a day to categorically #SayNoToHatred !

We call for all citizens to stand together until basic minimum guarantees of peace and security are available to all.

In Delhi a programme has been initiated to trigger 100+ events, protests, and actions on 27 August 2017. These will be spread across residential areas, on streets and important intersections, everywhere where people want to join in and say – #NafratKeKhilafDilliKiAwaaz

This is a citizens campaign and the entire organising is through the effort of citizens of Delhi. Poets, artists, performers, musicians, story tellers, theatre practitioners of the city are gearing up to perform at Bawana, Meena Bazaar, Madan Pur Khadar, Jamia Nagar, Khirkee, Mandi House, Vasant Kunj, Nizamuddin, R.K. Puram and many, many other locations.

A meeting of all who want to work on the campaign is to be held on Saturday 19 August 2017 at 4:00 PM. The venue is Indian Social Institute, Lodi Road, New Delhi, behind the Sai Mandir. Nearest Metro Stations – Jor Bagh and Khan Market.

You can join the campaign by organising an event/action in your neighbourhood, help in coordinating work, volunteer at the venues on 27 August.
