Speaking in the context of the spate of the arrests made in the aftermath of the Bhima Koregaon violence, senior human rights lawyer Vrinda Grover criticises the manner in which the government is trying to suppress the rights of the citizens and the voices of those who wish to contest the socio-political imagination propagated by the government. She questions why we continue to operate with the colonial jurisprudence where the citizen is a suspect, and the state is presumed to act in good faith. Grover feels that the authorities and agencies have been used and abused against those who are challenging and contesting the state power.
