Here is a ground report from Durgapur and Islampur. In June 2017, three Muslims were killed by a frenetic Hindu mob near the Chopra police station in Durgapur. They killed three Muslim men from Islampur: Mohammed Nasiruddin, Nasirul Haque and Mohammed Samiruddin. Along with Harsh Mander, John Dayal, and others from Karwaan-e-Mohabbat, we met Ashin Mohammed, Mohammed Nasiruddin's father. None of the three families have received any monetary compensation. The three men arrested for the lynching were released on bail after spending fifteen days in custody.
