The Rajasthan government has been in the news for all the wrong reasons this year, especially for its inability to stop lynchings in the name of cow protection. The latest was the brutal murder of a Muslim migrant labourer in Rajsamand. What followed was equally disturbing, when a mob of Hindutva extremists went on a rampage in Udaipur city in support of the Rajsamand killer — and unfurled a saffron flag on Udaipur court premises. On 26 December, activists from different organisations protested in Delhi against this unconstitutional act and the inaction of Rajasthan's BJP government.
