If science is a better way to understand nature, then knowledge should be used for the benefit of humanity. Instead, capitalists have profited immensely by exploiting scientific knowledge. A prime example is seen in the pharmaceutical companies’ profiteering. Prabir Purkayastha, the author of “Knowledge As Commons: Towards Inclusive Science and Technology” and the editor-in-chief of NewsClick, argues that an unnecessary conflict was created between science and technology, and the result was the loss of much traditional knowledge.
