‘Krishn Kanhaiya’ written by Hafeez Jalandhari in pre-Partition India is a testimony to the syncreticism and shared culture that the people of the Indian subcontinent have inherited. This rendition performed by TM Krishna and composed by Shubha Mudgal reminds us that the language of love – whether it is Urdu, Hindi or any other – is far more moving and powerful than those who seek to divide.
