Notable filmmaker Saeed Mirza and illustrator Nachiket Patwardhan’s recent book, I Know the Psychology of Rats, tells the story of two friends who, over time, built a strong bond of trust and friendship during their film school days in Pune. The friends are Mirza and his beloved classmate, the director Kundan Shah, who gave us the 1983 cult classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. At its launch, Mirza and Patwardhan spoke with novelist Githa Hariharan about the raison d’etre for writing and whether movies can help when times are hard.
