Paigham-e-Azadi, a joint initiative by the School for Democracy and NewsClick, is a series of lectures focusing on the contribution of India’s freedom fighters. The following lecture by Aditya Mukherjee focuses on Jawaharlal Nehru.
Mukherjee is a Professor of Contemporary Indian History, Centre for Historical Studies and Dean, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He has also been a member of The Indian Council for Historical Research (ICHR) since 2009 and specialises in Economic History, particularly business history and the political economy of post-colonial development. He was President of the Indian History Congress for Modern India, 2007-08. He has been Visiting Professor at several universities in India and abroad.
