In these times, when voices that speak truth to power are censored, when people are outcasted, jailed, murdered, for speaking against oppression, every voice matters, every poem matters.

And sometimes, a few lines of poetry can speak better about the trauma that we pass through and the acute need to respond to it, than many paragraphs of prose. Amrita Pritam’s poem ‘Chup ki Saazish’ (The Conspiracy of Silence) is one such poem.

For this episode of Bol, actor, singer and dancer, Aditi Rao Hydari reads Amrita’s poem, for we as a nation will make more rebellions, on paper, on image and celluloid. We will read, write, sing and paint them. We will take them to the streets.

एक ज़ंजीर से बँधी
किसी वक़्त किसी की
कोई नज़्म भौंकती है।
