In solidarity with Palestine: Pledge and declare your space an anti-apartheid zone

Israel’s escalating onslaught from ethnic cleansing in Sheikh Jarrah to the massacre in Gaza are being resisted by Palestinians tenaciously. People around the world are rising in solidarity with them.

Yesterday, May 18th, Palestinians called for general strike across historic Palestine. You too can extend your solidarity to the Palestinian struggle and continue to raise your voice. We encourage you to, starting today, to declare your office, establishment, union or association an Israeli Apartheid Free Zone.

The ongoing Israeli violence against Palestinians is part of its seven decades old regime of apartheid, occupation and settler colonialism. It has sustained itself due to the complicity of states, corporations as well cultural and academic institutions.

By declaring your space as an Apartheid Free Zone, you are committing to not  contribute to the maintenance of an apartheid regime or be complicit in Palestinian human rights violations.

This is especially important for us in India, where our government is the biggest buyer of Israeli arms, thereby financing the brutal occupation and colonial violence against Palestinian people. Hindutva and Zionism form an ideological collusion, which has lately presented itself in the form of policy decisions aimed at repression and disenfranchisement of minorities.

Therefore our resistance to Israel’s apartheid regime is a defence of our shared values of equality, democracy and secularism.

To declare your space an Apartheid Free Zone, you can download and post this sticker in your space and adopt the following pledge:

In our protest against Israel’s settler colonial violence and apartheid; in solidarity with Palestinian people across the historic territory and in exile, we declare our <XXXXX>

An Israeli Apartheid Free Zone.

This means we do not use any products from companies complicit in Israel’s apartheid.

This means we do not participate in or promote any form of propaganda or events sponsored by Israel’s institutions of apartheid.
This means we have no space for racism, intolerance and supremacist ideologies such as Brahmanical patriarchy and Hindutva.
This means our space is one where we cultivate struggles for freedom, justice and equality.
Our struggles are connected, so is our liberation.
