The quest for livelihood tears a multitude of people away from their homes, and flings them into the din of the city. Separation, unending labour and alienation that marks these lives has found expression in a remarkable body of songs and poetry. At the cusp of summer, millions of migrant workers began their tedious and long journey home, covering hundreds of kilometres on foot, battling physical trauma, hunger and institutional apathy. This episode of Waqt ki Awaaz brings together, in solidarity with the ordeal of the migrant workers under lockdown, songs of migration.
