Hundreds of families have been rendered homeless after communal violence ripped apart Northeast Delhi in the last week of February. Several hundreds have been forced to take shelter at relief camps or at their relatives’ homes. NewsClick spoke with some of these families who said that their homes have now been turned to detention centres. Some alleged that their rents have been doubled, while in other cases, Hindu houseowners are not letting their Muslim tenants to come back to their shops and houses.
