Writer, activist and poet, Huchangi Prasad, talks about his life and struggles as the son of a devadasi, the condition of devadasis in Karnataka, and his poetry which is rooted in that context. The devadasi system is the product of an unequal society like ours, with its age-old caste hierarchy and oppression. Prasad talk about the need for progressive movements of the poor and marginalised which can challenge and abolish such oppressive institutions.
