On the back
of white horses-
the wave’s incessant arrivals,
At horizon’s edge dolphins
leaping against the sun,
a deferred promise
hovering in the air,
daylight diminished
shimmering on dusk waters,
our imprints on the sand
forgotten by a sweeping breeze,
ghost crabs emerging
from orifices in the sand.
