Newsclick and Communalism Combat spoke to Jignesh Mevani about the challenges faced by the dalits of Gujarat during the Una struggle, and how they have been able to keep up the momentum to fight for their rights. He informs that they were successful in getting the possession of some 300 acres of land recently when they threatened to prevent the “Vibrant Gujarati Global Investors Summit”. He was also critical of certain dalit groups which do not project the radical views of Ambedkar on nationalisation of land or nationalisation of key industries. He also speaks about the challenges dalits are facing across the country, and of the need to forge larger alliances to defeat the right-wing forces.
