A Committee Report
The Government constituted a committee headed by Prof S.K. Thorat to enquire into allegations of differential treatment of SC/ST students in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. This was in the wake of media reports and complaints to the Government about the said harassment and abuse. The committee was given the mandate to look into all matters connected with the said harassment. The AIIMS being a 100 per cent grant-in-aid institution of the Government is to comply with all the directives of the Government and provide for the constitutionally guaranteed safe guards to the weaker sections particularly the Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.
