Professor Emeritus H S Gill’s Open Letter to JNU VC

H S Gill, Professor Emeritus at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), has written an open letter to Prof Jagadish Kumar, the JNU VC. He refers to the manner in which Prof Saitya Brata Das, who teaches at the Centre for English Studies, was denied his promotion after an unjust interview process. He writes, 

The other day a very unfortunate incident hapened. One of the most brilliant stars of the faculty, who had contributed at the highest level of scholarship, was denied his due. Dr. Saitya Brata Das had worked on the philosophy of one of the most distinguished philosophers of Germany, namely, Schelling. His book, The Political Philosophy of Schelling (2016) is published by the Edinburg University Press, which is one of the leading university presses in the UK… Mr Vice Chancellor, JNU, should be proud of such a scholar. It is because of such intellectuals that our university, your university, is known…
