On May 29, 2022, Anek Dhara, a public policy platform, organised a webinar titled “India’s Composite Culture: Evolution and Future” with Kumkum Roy and Vinay Lal.

Kumkum Roy, former professor of Centre for Historical Studies, JNU, delivered her talk on “The Complexities of a Composite Culture: Insights from an old story”, explaining the complexities of composite culture using a story as the reference. Vinay Lal, professor of History and Asian American Studies, University of California, Los Angeles, spoke on “Composite Culture of India in Modern Times and the Perils of Homogenisation” using a wide range of examples to understand the nuances of composite culture.
