The dispute surrounding Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s portrait from the Aligarh Muslim University has raked up many old controversies about the late founder of Pakistan. In the Indian version of the history, Jinnah has always been portrayed in bad light, and his contribution to the freedom struggle has been subverted. Historian Irfan Habib talked to Tarique Anwar about the genesis of the two-nation theory.
